I can't forget the photos

#20 - Take a picture of my child at least once a week
I managed to do this for every week of Tyler's first year. They are all on Facebook and it is so cool to go back through the album & look at the pictures in chronological order.

So I've accomplished a few things since the last time I wrote

It's almost a year and a half since I last posted anything on this blog. It's been quite a busy year and a half. Tyler is almost 16 months old now and it goes without saying that raising him has taken so much of my time. However, I've managed to knock down a few goals. Let's review, shall we?

#30 - Pay off loans for the Pilot and Z3.
The Pilot was paid off earlier this year and let me tell you, having NO car payments is a little slice of heaven. The Z3 was paid off sometime last year.

#32 - Start a savings account for baby
This was courtesy of Nana. She got a free red plastic pig from the county fair in 2008 and decided that she and Papa would put all their loose change in it, as well as any money Tyler received as gifts (they've put in money for every holiday from Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Easter). After the pig got full the first time, she and I emptied it & rolled all the loose change and then she opened his savings account.

#34 - Set up the nursery
This was accomplished in November 2008, right before my baby shower. The walls were painted a warm yellow color and the ceiling was painted in a light blue by our dear friend Laurel. We still haven't put anything up on the walls yet, so it's a little plain, but we do have really nice dark furniture and we have the crib sheets, changing pad cover, and rug to lend some decor to the room.

#46 - Get a new gas grill for the backyard
I believe we did this last summer. It has been SO nice to be able to come home from work, hand Allen some thawed out meat & say, "Cook this." I tried to do zucchini and broccoli wrapped in foil last night, but most of it burned. However, the stupid potato barely got soft. Hmmm.......... practice makes perfect though. Speaking of which, we still need to work on trying to master cooking chicken on that thing. Ha!

#47 - Find someone to keep our landscaping maintained
Shortly after Tyler was born, we got a flier from a Russian guy named John who does work for Yan's Landscaping Service (turns out HE's Yan). He came over & offered to mow both yards for $15. We have him come twice a month and he will even trim the bushes, pull weeds, & prune the trees for a little extra. Allen's been a lucky man to not have to do any yard work. I just wish I could find someone I could trust to help clean the house so I can mark off #48.

#57 - Watch all episodes of 3 TV shows recommended by family/friends
Man, it's so crazy to think about good TV shows I'm missing. Thank God for Netflix!!!

The Office - recommended by my friend and former co-worker Alice
Weeds - recommended by my friend and co-worker Cayden
The Big Bang Theory - recommended by Allen

Next - Glee, Big Love

#69 - Stay off of MySpace for one month
Ha! Maybe I should've changed this to "Stay off of Facebook for one month." At the time I created these goals, I don't think I was quite as active on Facebook. My, how things change. I think I log on to MySpace once every 2-3 months & that's usually to delete friends off of my list because they are on Facebook. :)

There's still more to do & a little less than 18 months to do it!!!
